The story behind our name

fatbellykat

Very simply, Kat had a fat belly upon opening the doors for trade. Very visible from the open kitchen, Kat and her fat belly became an iconic symbol of the establishment.  That fat belly turned out to be Isaiah, first born baby for Katerina and Damian Williams. Not quite 2 years later and the fat belly re-surfaced, this time larger and more visible than ever. This turned out to be Sunday and Daisy, twin girls and sisters to Isaiah. A regular diner has described ‘fatbellykat’ as the best living example of a self-fulfilled prophesy.

Kat & Damian have now sold the resteraunt and are moving towards Book projects.

The food?

what we know

Our approach to food is greatly influenced by Katerina’s Greek heritage and inspired by the fabulous produce of the area. The dinner table was the focal point for eating and socialising in Katerina’s childhood home, featuring many Mediterranean dishes and promoting unity and happiness with the common denominator of food. We translate this to our dining room and encourage guests to share and enjoy.
